On April 21, 2021, emergency dispatchers were called to transport a woman via stretcher from the Planned Parenthood Metro Salt Lake City abortion facility. Pro-Life Utah obtained the audio footage of the 911 call. Listen to it below:
From the audio and transcript, we know that the 29- year old woman was hemorrhaging after an abortion (evidenced by the staffer saying “she is no longer pregnant”). We also know that Planned Parenthood told the dispatchers they would need to access their facility from Lincoln Street, which is not the main entrance to their clinic. This was almost certainly as a way to try to avoid negative media attention (thankfully, some quick-thinking advocates swiftly moved to Lincoln street to obtain photos as evidence).
As per Planned Parenthood’s own policy, the woman will have to personally pay for the costs incurred from the emergency transport and any subsequent medical care. Their documents state:
"No promise can be made about the outcome of your abortion. In the unlikely event that you need emergency medical care that cannot be provided at Planned Parenthood, you will be responsible for paying for it. This is the case even if Planned Parenthood sends you to another doctor or hospital because of a problem."
As Pro-Life Utah has continued to investigate the Planned Parenthood Metro abortion facility, we have come across some troubling findings. A publicly available health inspection report from August 2020 shows that they had approximately 20 incident reports from February-June 2020.
These “incidents” can include abortion-related complications like excessive bleeding, perforation, laceration, and retained POC.
