Salt Lake City, UT - With great sorrow and profound disappointment, Pro-Life Utah, Utah Eagle Forum and the Abortion-Free Utah Coalition join in expressing deep sadness with today’s Utah Supreme Court ruling to uphold the injunction permitting elective abortion to continue in the State of Utah for the duration of the lawsuit. This decision permits Planned Parenthood of Utah and other abortion facilities to continue the killing of thousands of pre-born babies within the state. Since the injunction went into effect, over 6,000 babies have been killed by elective abortion in the state of Utah.
The Utah Supreme Court’s decision stands in stark opposition to the values and beliefs held by the majority of Utahns. The loss of the lives of 6,000 future citizens and what they could have offered is a grim reminder that our judicial system has abandoned the call to protect “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
“The decision made today is a grim reminder that our society has strayed far from the moral compass that once guided us,” stated Mary Taylor, President of Pro-Life Utah. “We mourn for the countless unborn lives that will never have the chance to experience the world, and we grieve for a society that fails to uphold the fundamental right to life.”
Gayle Ruzicka, President of Utah Eagle Forum, agreed, “Pro-Life Utah, Utah Eagle Forum and the Abortion-Free Utah Coalition remain steadfast in our mission to protect the unborn and support women facing unplanned pregnancies. We will continue to advocate for life-affirming laws and provide comprehensive support to women and families in need.”
“Our dedication to this cause is unwavering, and we call upon all those who value life to join us in prayer, advocacy, and action. Together, we will work tirelessly to restore the sanctity of life in our state,” asserted Merrilee Boyack, Chairman of the Abortion-Free Utah Coalition.
